Nearly 90 stocky bearded men who resemble the literary legend, who lived and wrote in Key West throughout the 1930s, are competing in the Virtual "Papa" Hemingway Look-Alike Contest! Cast your votes for your favorite "Papas", daily, through June 29. The person selected who most resembles "Papa" is to win a four-night, five-day trip for two to Key West to compete in a preliminary round of the 2012 Sloppy Joe's "Papa" Hemingway Look-Alike Contest staged during Key West's annual Hemingway Days festival, set for July 17-22. Vote at the Florida Keys & Key West's Facebook page. Your votes determine 10 finalists. A judging panel made up of past look-alike winners is to select the online winner by July 2.

Third Annual Renegade Sunset Run
Sponsored by the Southernmost Seminoles and the Southernmost Runners clubs of Key West. Pre-registration fee is $20 before June 1. On June 2, registration $25 per person. 5K starts at 7 p.m., Higgs Beach at Salute Restaurant, and travels down Atlantic to Bertha to the Blvd. then back to Salute. Pre-race packet to be picked up June 1 between 5-7 p.m. at Salute. Proceeds benefit local scholarships.

Anglers for Conservation is coordinating a Hook Kids on Fishing program to kick-off the Inaugural National Marine Sanctuaries Classic Fishing and Photo Contest. The event is to take place from 8:30 a.m. - Noon at the Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center in Key West, located near Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park. Kids ages 6 to 16, are welcome along with their parents. The first 100 kids to register will receive a free fishing rod and reel. Registration is mandatory, visit website for details.

Several national parks in Florida, including the Florida Keys, are waiving usual entry fees, a money-saving offer for Get Outdoors Day, June 9. Participating National Parks include Dry Tortugas National Park, off Key West. Other free-entry days include September 29, National Public Lands Day and November 10-12, Veterans Day weekend.

Mercury Marine Ladies Dolphin Championship
Female anglers have seven (7) ways to win $10,000 in cash and prizes for catching dolphin during the one-day event. A $3,000 cash prize is to be awarded to the angler catching the single heaviest dolphin during the day long tournament. The second-place angler is to receive $1,500 cash and the third-place angler is to receive $500 in cash. A boat prize of $2,500 will be presented to the team weighing in the heaviest aggregate weight of two dolphin. The tournament entry fee is $400 per boat.
