A wine lovers' event featuring wine dinners, free-pour wine events, progressive dinners and a great time - what better reason to uncork in Key Largo? Key Largo's culinary experts step up to the "palate" to present nearly 30 tasty food, wine and spirits events all over the island.

To benefit the Upper Keys Wounded Warrior Dive and Deptherapy, offering veterans rehabilitation through scuba diving. The motorcycle ride (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) offers an opportunity to support the troops while having some fun! Five poker-hand stops include Alabama Jack's (9-11 a.m.), Buzzard's Roost (10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.), Postcard Inn at Holiday Isle (noon to 2 p.m.), Snapper's (1:30-3 p.m.) and Gilbert's (2:30-4:30 p.m.). Three hands for $20, $5 for each additional hand. First place hand wins $500, second place $200 and third place $100.

REEF's Annual Key Largo Lionfish Derby is coming up on September 8, and in preparation for this event you can learn the background of the invasion, biology/ecology of lionfish, their impacts, current research findings, plus collection tools and techniques. Included in the workshop will be the opportunity to obtain permits for collection of lionfish within the Sanctuary Preservation Areas of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. To be held at REEF headquarters, from 6-9 p.m., located at MM 98.3 in the median.
