ISLAMORADA, Florida Keys — Geared for anglers between the ages of 9 and 35, the RedGhost Stalk backcountry fishing tournament is set for Sunday and Monday, July 25-26.
Redfish and the elusive ghostlike bonefish are the targets, but RedGhost anglers are known to focus on fun and conservation as well as healthy competition.
Anglers can enter either the junior division for ages 9-17 or the young adult division for ages 18-35.
The all-release tournament kicks off with a mandatory rules meeting at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 25, at the Islamorada Fishing Club, mile marker 82 bayside in Islamorada.
Fishing is slated for Monday, July 26, with lines-in at 6:30 a.m. and lines-out at 3 p.m. The action is to be followed by a 6 p.m. tournament banquet and awards presentation at the club.
A qualifier for the 2011 Florida Keys Outfitters/IGFA Inshore World Championship, the tournament is limited to 40 boats with a maximum of two anglers per boat. Professional guides are not required.
Entry fee is $75 per angler, which includes a tournament shirt, ditty bag and social ticket. Additional social tickets for all non-anglers are $30 each.
