Big Pine Key & Lower Keys Travel
By Air
The Lower Keys are just minutes away once you land at
either the Key West International Airport or the Florida
Keys Marathon Airport.
The drive from the airport takes 20 minutes to an hour,
depending on your destination within the Lower Keys.
If you choose to drive from one of the airports on mainland
Florida, the ride from the Miami International Airport
takes about 3 hours, and about 45 minutes longer from
Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
By Land

If you're driving from Miami International Airport, take LeJeune Road south to 836 West. Take the Florida Turnpike south toward Key West. The Turnpike ends at US 1 in Florida City. Follow U.S. 1 south to the Keys.
From Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, exit the airport and follow the signs for 595 West. Take 595 to the Florida Turnpike and follow the signs for the Florida Keys.
From the north, take the Florida Turnpike south and follow the signs for Homestead and Key West. The Florida Turnpike ends at US 1 in Florida City. Follow U.S. 1 south into the Florida Keys.
From Florida's west coast, take 1-75 Alligator Alley east to the Miami exit, and south to the Florida Turnpike.
Shuttle Services
Greyhound Lines The famous American bus service makes scheduled stops along the route between Miami International Airport and the Florida Keys. 1-(800) 231-2222 or (305) 296-9072.
Keys Shuttle
The company provides door-to-door service between the Keys and the Miami and Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airports. (305) 289-9997 or 1 (888) 765-9997.
TransFloridian This luxury motorcoach service offers door-to-door shuttle service along the route between Miami International and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airports and the Florida Keys. Phone: (877) 246-4786.
Train Services
Amtrak takes you as far south as Fort Lauderdale. There, you can transfer to the Keys Shuttle bus discussed above. Amtrak: 1-800-USARAIL.
By Sea
Experienced boaters can reach Islamorada by navigating carefully along the Atlantic side of the Keys or by traveling through the Intracoastal Waterway. Consult the appropriate Coast Pilot and Light List manuals. Marinas are waiting to play host to you, but you should make reservations ahead.
