'WineDine' Restaurant Month Returns to Florida Keys in September

Florida Keys flavours highlight a menu of dining opportunities for visitors to the island chain from 15 September to 15 October, during a restaurant month staged in the districts of Key West and Islamorada.

Fans of fine food can enjoy multicourse prix fixé meals at a number of Key West and Islamorada restaurants during the event ‘cooked up’ to showcase indigenous cuisine and the talents of Florida Keys chefs. The culinary celebration debuted in the island city of Key West in 2016 and is expanding for 2017 to include the Upper Keys district of Islamorada.

During WineDine KeyWest and WineDine Islamorada, event organiser Mark Certonio said participating restaurants are to offer three-course meals priced at approximately $20 per person for lunch (around £15.50) and $35 per person for dinner (less than £27).

Restaurants participating in Key West include casual waterfront spots, trendy bistros and eateries specialising in fresh Florida Keys seafood and award-winning gourmet emporiums. They include Spencer’s by the Sea at The Reach, A Waldorf Astoria Resort; Matt’s Stock Island Kitchen & Bar at The Perry Hotel Key West; the Conch Republic Seafood Company and The Southernmost Beach Café at the Southernmost Beach Resort. Participating locations in Islamorada are soon to be announced.

To take part in the month-long edible feast, diners need to register for free at www.winedinekeywest.com and www.winedineflakeys.com.

The websites detail the featured restaurants and their menus, as well as other local businesses including spas, lodging properties, water sports operators, museum attractions and boutiques with enticing offers for event participants.

An additional website section introduces diners to the Florida Keys chefs behind the selected restaurants' fare.

Travel to the Florida Keys: Purely America (0844 80 444 80, purelyamerica.co.uk) has seven nights in the Florida Keys from £1,139 per person. Valid for departures in September and October 2017, the price includes three nights in Islamorada and four nights in Key West, plus return Virgin Atlantic flights from London Heathrow to Miami and economy car hire for the duration. The price is based on two adults travelling, sharing room-only accommodation.
