Mile 0 Fest to Star ‘Red Dirt’ and Americana Music on Key West’s Waterfront

KEY WEST, Florida Keys — A long roster of leading Americana and “Red Dirt” musical acts, performing in a subtropical waterfront setting, await music lovers Wednesday through Saturday, Feb. 7-10, at Key West’s inaugural Mile 0 Fest.

The festival, whose name references the island city’s location at the beginning of U.S. Highway 1, is to feature several dozen groups and bands ranging from notable established acts to talented newcomers. All embody the Red Dirt and Americana musical styles, defined by some as bridging the gap between rock and country and incorporating the American roots tradition.

Festival organizers anticipate performances by more than 30 artists, with four days of mainstage shows at Key West’s Truman Waterfront Park Amphitheater and smaller “song swaps” and acoustic sessions at other island locations.

Attendees can anticipate performances by top acts including the Turnpike Troubadours, Cody Jinks, Pat Green, the Red Dirt Rangers, Wade Bowen, Shooter Jennings, Charlie Robison, Jack Ingram, Old 97’s, Stoney Larue and Ray Wylie Hubbard. Singer/songwriter Elizabeth Cook, a host of SiriusXM’s Outlaw Country, is to emcee the show and perform as well.

The state-of-the-art amphitheater, set beside the blue waters surrounding Key West, features a combination of reserved seating and general-admission grassy space for spectators.

As well as enjoying the stellar musicianship, audiences at Truman Waterfront Park can purchase offerings from local food trucks, mobile bars and chalet tents to round out the festival experience.

Associated activities include a Feb. 7 charity fishing derby with celebrity judges and the Conch Cup Charity Scramble golf tournament, to be staged Feb. 8 at the Key West Golf Club. Proceeds are to benefit the Red Dirt Relief Fund and Key West’s Michelle Halpern Foundation and Bahama Villiage Music Program.

Four-day festival passes and single-day passes are available.
