ISLAMORADA, Florida Keys — The 27th annual Florida Keys Island Fest is celebrating the islands’ relaxed coastal island living and family fun through Sunday, March 25, in Islamorada.

Founders Park at mile marker 87 is to transform into a musical, artistic outdoor emporium featuring over 100 exceptional local and national artists whose work includes paintings, sculptures, jewelry and fine crafts, as well as the signature annual Island Fest poster.

Admission is free to enjoy the live music, food, fun and featured art. Artwork for purchase at the festival varies in price range and style.

The two-day outdoor arts and crafts show is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at the bayfront.

In addition to admiring the creations on display, attendees can watch a group of independent artists painting on location in plein-air tradition.

An Island Fest staple that adds to the old-fashioned fun is an All-American Road Vintage Cruisers Car Show featuring antique cars, trucks, motorcycles and rat rods. Festival attendees can vote for their favorite in the popular People's Choice category.

Entertainers in virtually all musical genres are to keep the groove moving during scheduled performances throughout both days. Saturday’s attractions also include a wacky “What Floats Your Boat” race for homemade “boats” crafted of non-maritime materials.

Sunday features the ever-popular Taste of Islamorada culinary competition, so attendees can sample participating area restaurants’ signature dishes.

Kids can have their own fun by painting a life-sized dolphin statue, building sand sculptures or competing in hula-hoop contests.

On-site parking is available for a $5 donation. Organizers suggest that attendees bring lawn chairs and blankets to maximize enjoyment of a full day's fun. Events are to take place rain or shine.
