Islamorada Women's Sailfish Tournament to Challenge Anglers Feb. 3-5

ISLAMORADA, Florida Keys — Lady anglers looking for competition and camaraderie, as well as an opportunity to raise money for a great cause, can join the Islamorada Women's Sailfish Tournament Friday through Sunday, Feb. 3-5. Against a fundraising backdrop of a silent auction and raffle that is open to the public, the tournament kicks off with a 6-8 p.m. registration, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, and rules meeting. They are to be held at The Islander Resort, a Guy Harvey Outpost at mile marker 82 in Islamorada, which serves as tournament headquarters.

Light-tackle fishing is planned Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cocktails are to begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner and the awards ceremony. Awards are to be presented to the grand champion boat team, captain and mate; first runner-up and second runner-up team, captain and mate; and high-point angler. Additional awards recognize the most outstanding catch and largest tuna, dolphin and kingfish.

Entry fee is $295 for the first angler and $250 for each additional angler. Up to six anglers per boat can register.

Money raised from the event supports the Montessori Academy of the Upper Keys.
