ISLAMORADA, Florida Keys - Fine food and wine from renowned chefs and wineries are to be spotlighted for three consecutive evenings at Cheeca Lodge and Spa's second annual Food and Wine Festival. The celebration of cuisine is scheduled through Wednesday, Feb. 4, from 6-9 p.m. each evening at Cheeca Lodge, mile marker 82 oceanside in Islamorada.
Tuesday evening, Feb. 3, the festival presents a casual affair with a mix of fine wine, food, local art and music to be held from 6-9 p.m. under a tent near Cheeca Lodge's spa and tennis courts. Event organizers promise five celebrity chefs, 50 different wines, 12 local artists and entertainment culminating in a fireworks display.
The cost for the evening is $75 per person and proceeds benefit the PACE Center for Girls and the Florida Keys Council of the Arts.
Wednesday's grand finale is to feature a five-course gourmet dinner with each course prepared by a different celebrity chef and paired with a world-class wine. Chefs include Andy Niedenthal of Cheeca Lodge and Spa; Karl Edlbauer of the Peabody Hotels of Orlando, Memphis and Little Rock; David Webb of Keystone, Colo.; and Brad Barker of The Equinox, an elegant RockResort in Vermont.
Scheduled to take place in Cheeca's oceanside restaurant, Atlantic's Edge, the gourmet gala offers participants a chance to interact with chefs and winemakers as signature recipes are paired with wines.
The cost is $150 per person and benefits the James Beard Foundation.
Gourmets who desire to enjoy all three food events can purchase an inclusive ticket package for $275 per person.
