Diners seeking to sink their teeth into creative Mediterranean specialties have a new option: Azur, recently opened at 425 Grinnell St. in Key West’s historic Old Town district.

Tucked away at the popular boutique hotel Eden House, within walking distance of most Old Town guesthouses, Azur serves flavorful fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Seating is available in the restaurant’s cool blue dining room or outside on a shaded terrace.

Chef-owners Michael Mosi and Drew Wenzel have cooked up an innovative, intriguing menu. Breakfast and brunch feature such taste treats as Key lime pie stuffed French toast and crab benedict over grilled ciabatta bread. Lunch standouts include a marinated charred octopus appetizer and savory grilled flatbread pizzas topped with such delicacies as slow-roasted duck and herbed goat cheese or shaved prime rib and Gorgonzola.

Among dinner entrees are fresh seafood and shellfish with sweet pea and saffron-infused risotto, braised lamb ribs over Moroccan spiced chickpeas and grilled local swordfish over braised escarole.

Azur is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6-10 p.m., Saturday 6-10 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For information and reservations, call (305) 292-2987. Information also is available at azurkeywest.com.
