Key West Co-Ed Mahi Masters Set for May 12-14

KEY WEST, Florida Keys — Male and female anglers are to target dolphin fish, also called mahi-mahi, in the Key West Co-Ed Mahi Masters set for Friday through Sunday, May 12-14. The tournament's unique format calls for women to compete Saturday, May 13, while men compete Sunday.

Cash prizes await women in first through fifth place for catching the heaviest individual dolphin. First- and second-place payouts await male anglers who score the heaviest aggregate weight of two dolphin.

Prize amounts are to be determined based on the number of boats registered.

Hosted by Murray Marine, events kick off with a final registration at 6 p.m. Friday, May 12, at the Saltwater Angler, 243 Front St. at the Margaritaville Key West Resort & Marina.

The weekend's angling action is to run from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, with daily weigh-ins following at Murray Marine, 5710 U.S. 1 on Stock Island. Fish can be delivered to the weigh-ins by car or boat.

Anglers are encouraged to release all fish except their heaviest.

An awards presentation with food and libations is scheduled after Sunday's weigh-in at Murray Marine. The tournament entry fee is $400 per boat for female anglers and $600 per boat for males.
